Are you wondering about the security implications of using any of the RescueGroups.org services to post your organization's data?

Using a RescueGroups.org service is more secure than any other option.  Here's why our services are the most secure options for you:

The RescueGroups.org Management website is a secure (SSL) web site.

  • The RescueGroups.org Management website is the only website that is encrypted and secure when you post your pet information. This means that your user name and password as well as your organization's data can't be intercepted by hackers when you are using the Management website. The adoption listing web sites don't provide a secure website.

We only purge your pet data after 30 days.

  • Many of the pet adoption listing websites permanently delete your pet information and pictures as soon as you click Delete. They also are unable (or refuse) to restore your pets or pictures if you make a mistake.
  • Although you may wish to recover occasional accidental deletions, the real concern is that someone would delete all of your pets maliciously (like a disgruntled volunteer).
  • If you are using our services, not only are you able to recover deleted pets within 30 days, but we can track who made changes to your pets so you aren't left in the dark.

Our services provide individual login accounts for each of your staff and volunteers.

  • We strongly recommend that you give each of your volunteers their own account to your RescueGroups.org service. It provides accountability and an audit trail. That means you can see who updated a pet and when. It also means you can disable individual people's access to the service without affecting everyone.

RescueGroups.org helps you protect your adoption listing website passwords.

  • When using our services to update the adoption listing websites, you don't need to give your staff and volunteers access to update pets on those websites. That means that you can be sure that all of your pet updates will be made on your RescueGroups.org service. You can be sure that your pets will never be lost if all updates are made on your RescueGroups.org service, and no one is allowed to update your pets directly on the adoption listing websites.
